Whether you’re looking for a group climbing session to add something different to your P.E. curriculum, or are planning a motivational activity day full of exciting sports including abseiling, climbing, low ropes and watersports, Rock and Rapid Adventures is the place to be.
The most popular group activity we offer at our adventure centre in North Devon is climbing for schools. School climbing lessons are fantastic for developing students’ teamwork and communication skills, whilst building their confidence by trying a thrilling new activity.
So, what makes rock climbing such a fantastic activity for students to try? Here are just a few of the things that make indoor climbing the ideal school enrichment activity.
At Rock and Rapid Adventures, we tailor activities to suit each group’s needs, whether you’re booking a one-off climbing lesson or a structured course running over several weeks or months. We can cater for GCSE and A Level syllabuses if desired, and can even add outdoor trips into your schedule in the summer months to supplement regular indoor sessions.
Our sessions are available for groups as small as two up to as many as ninety climbers. All sessions are fully supervised by qualified instructors, and we work on ratios that ensure every child has the encouragement and attention they need in a variety of activities from roped climbing and bouldering to abseiling, low ropes and team games.
Students thrive off having their achievements recognised.So why not give your group extra motivation by enrolling them onto the NICAS scheme? The National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme recognises young people’s achievements in indoor climbing, awarding progression over five levels, from the basics to competent lead climbing. Rock and Rapid Adventures are the NICAS Primary Centre for North Devon, and we offer instructed NICAS courses to both individuals and groups.
One of the great things about climbing for groups and schools is that it’s such an inclusive activity. Individuals of all ages and abilities can take part in indoor climbing and experience its many benefits as a sport. Our instructors are trained in teaching a wide range of demographics, including students from alternative provisions schools, and individuals with disabilities.
At the centre, we hold an AALA license and are members of the Association of British Climbing Walls.
Of course, if you have your own instructors you’re welcome to bring them along to use our climbing facilities, instead of using our staff. (As you’d expect, they must hold all of the appropriate qualifications and insurance to do so.)
