At Rock and Rapid Adventures, we are passionate about sharing our awesome rock climbing wall and outdoor activities with as many people as possible. This means that accessibility is a huge priority of ours, and we are committed to improving our provisions for those with additional needs every year.

Whilst we are not specific specialists in outdoor activities for disabled individuals, we do have facilities that allow visitors with additional needs to get involved. Our expert staff are also highly trained in working with individuals with a range of different requirements, from physical disabilities to behavioural challenges.

If you are looking for accessible climbing in North Devon, or for specific climbing courses for individuals with special needs, Rock and Rapid Adventures are here to help!

We run regular sessions with special needs schools, groups and individuals from all around Devon, and have a great reputation for improving the confidence and skills of climbers of all abilities and needs.

Here are just a few of our facilities for our disabled visitors:

> Wheelchair-access entrance and access

> Chest harnesses to help people with motor conditions or difficulty sitting

> Team building tasks tailored to differing needs

> Sensory adjustments available

We like to hold face-to-face consultations where possible to gauge how we can best support visitors with additional needs. If you would like to visit us with an individual or group, just give us a call on 01769 309 003 and we can organise a session especially for you.

Frequently asked questions

How Much do they Cost?

Our climbing tasters in Devon at Rock and Rapid Adventures cost £15 per person for 1.5 hours of climbing and bouldering with an instructor.

What Do I need to Wear?

For our climbing taster sessions in Devon, we recommend that you wear comfortable clothing that allows you t0 move freely and comfortably. Trainers are great, although we can provide climbing shoes if needed.

I have already had a taster session, can I do it again?

Yes of course, we have so many challenges on the wall that we can always run each taster session to everyone’s ability – whether it’s your first time, a refresh or a more in-depth climbing lesson. Especially now that we have just opened up a brand new bouldering centre!

My children have completed a taster session and want to continue with the sport, what else is available?

Please check out our kids’ climbing clubs, or speak to one of the team who will explain the next steps.

I am an adult and want to take up climbing, what is my next step?

Your next step would be to book an induction course with us – this will teach you all the skills to use the centre as a competent individual. After this, you can progress to a four-week improver course, which has no set dates and is designed to suit your needs. Check out our courses page for more information!

How do I book?

Give the centre a call on 01769 309002 between 10am-10pm Monday-Friday or 10am-6pm Saturday-Sunday.

Do you offer Group Discounts?

If you have a group of more than 10 people, please call us for our group climbing prices.

What people say rock and rapid

"Fantastic range of climbs, professional friendly staff"

Rock and Rapid testimonial

We took our 8 year old son for a climbing taster session here today. His instructor Zeb was so friendly and encouraging, giving instruction when needed and also letting Isaac try for himself to build his confidence.

"Great place and great staff"

Rock and Rapid testimonial

We visited this whole on our holiday on a rainy day, my son enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back so we did. Twice! The staff are super friendly and very knowledgable. We will no doubt be back next year!
